ABOUT GELISSEN
Expertise, from generation to generation
The Gelissen Horse Transport family business has a long history, dating back as far as 1932. It was the year Anton (“Twan”) Gelissen started transporting all sorts of materials, such as construction supplies. Twan also carried livestock to the Valkenburg and Maastricht markets.
In the course of the years the focus shifted towards transporting horses. In 1972, Twan’s son Frans and his wife Yvonne took over the business and moved to the former address in the Dutch Beek.
The area of interest as well as their fleet gradually expanded. Gelissen moved on to transporting horses outside the region and outside the country. Ever since the eighties, horses have been transported to Italy. Later on, horses, particularly Russian Arabians, were imported from Russia; Moscow, Tersk and the Baltic states.
In 1998, Frans and Yvonne passed down their business to their children Chantal and Roger. They’ve been leading the family business up to this day and are now completely geared to horse transport, nationally as well as internationally. In 2015, they make a big step forward by putting their new, fully equipped Echt accommodation into use.
